The Shook Home and The Quarters at The Shook is a not-for-profit organization. This institution is committed to providing quality care and services while empowering residents to achieve their highest level of independence, dignity, and self-worth in a home-like environment.
With a rich heritage dating back to the early 1900’s, Shook Home and the Quarters at the Shook continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of the community. Originally housed in a four bedroom residence on Garber Street, they quickly outgrew the home’s capacity and as a result relocated to a larger facility.
At its East Queen Street location for almost fifty years, it became evident that an even larger facility was necessary. As a result, in 1970, a sixty-five bed purpose-built nursing facility was erected on South Second Street. In fact, the 1970 location is where they still stand today.
Our Chambersburg Shook Home currently offers 24-hour skilled nursing care, personal care and residential living.
Featured in the new 11,630 square-foot addition includes an outpatient therapy, 6 resident rooms and a pool for aquatic therapy. The new purpose-built physical plant houses, in part, a state-of-the art therapy gym. The new structure enables therapists to treat a higher volume of residents in an enhanced therapeutic environment.
