Green Construction

Utilizing a sustainable design and construction philosophy encourages decisions at each phase of the process that will reduce negative impacts on the environment and the health of the occupants.  It is an integrated, holistic approach that encourages compromise and tradeoffs. Such an integrated approach positively impacts all phases of a building's life-cycle, including design, construction, operation and decommissioning.  Below is a summary of sustainable construction elements that Brechbill & Helman offers:

  • We are a member of USGBC (United States Green Building Council) and GBACPA (Green Building Association of Central Pennsylvania)
  • Two LEED AP on staff
  • Four LEED Green Associates on staff
  • Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter received a Green Globe rating of one from GBI (Green Building Initiative)
  • Recently finished the North American Headquarters for Vacon, which is targeting a LEED Silver rating
  • Recently began construction on the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, targeting a LEED Silver rating
