3-13-21 | The Beer Corner – Chambersburg | Benjamin Weber, President

“As we have occupied our recently constructed 2, 104 square foot retail facility, located at 235 Walker Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201, since October 2019, we would like to take this opportunity to commend and appreciate the Brechbill & Helman team for a project well done. Throughout the duration of the project’s construction and post-construction activities, it was very apparent that you and your team had the best interests of The Beer Comer at the forefront. The lines of communication were clean and constant resulting in a well-executed high end retail space. We are constantly receiving compliments about how well built our building is and that can be attributed to Brechbill & Helman.
We would unconditionally recommend Brechbill & Helman Construction Co., Inc for similar projects and look forward to continuing our relationship on future projects. This was an incredibly positive experience for the ownership of Blue Ridge Beer & Beverage, LLC and The Beer Comer.

2-05-18 | Home2 Suites-York | Justin Shelton

“I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to Brechbill & Helman Construction Company for the construction work they completed on the Home2 Suites by Hilton in York, PA.

With every construction project comes challenges and obstacles, and they were able to meet those challenges while keeping change order requests to a minimum. Brechbill & Helman successfully met our budget and projected opening date for the Home2 Suites York project.

I would like to recommend the Brechbill & Helman Construction team for their professionalism and hard work. Without their dedication we would not have been able to achieve the successful opening that we did.

We wish you continued growth and success and we look forward to working with you on future projects.”

11-11-16 | Manchester Town Hall | Steven Miller

“On behalf of Mayor Warner, the Manchester Town Council, Staff of the Town of Manchester and our Community I wanted to take the time to express our sincere thanks on the outstanding job your company did on our new Town Hall/Police Station.

Without a doubt, you have one of the most professional groups of people I have ever worked with, from yourself, to Mr. Harold Shipp, Project Administrator to Mr. John Ridings, Project/Superintendent, to every Brechbill and Helman employee that worked our beautiful facility.

We have been in our new facility for about a week now, and we conducted our first Official Town Council Meeting on November 8th, to say the least, our Mayor and Council are very pleased with their new Council chambers as well as our Administrative Staff and our Police Officers with their new facilities.

In closing, I want to personally thank you for a job well done and will highly recommend your Company to other Government, Community, or Business Organizations should they be in the market for an extremely fine Construction Company.”

2-02-16 | Body & Soul Community Center | William Capouillez

“On behalf of the McVeytown Community Local Mission Service Foundation, I would like to personally thank you and your staff for the exceptional job well done on building our community center.

As the project build-out progressed we quickly realized we had chosen wisely by having Brechbill and Helman as the project managers. Many times, both you and your staff were quick to make on the spot corrections on unforeseen construction issues, everything from ordering equipment and materials, to making suggestions which ultimately saved us both time and money on project completion. Your ongoing coordination meetings with subcontractors and us, proved invaluable in discerning any imperfections or deficiencies in equipment or materials. Once noted, your staff was always quick to provide the means necessary to correct the same which ultimately resulted in our community center exceeding our highest expectations. Likewise, there were many instances where you and your staffs professional expertise and demeanor was the much needed catalyst to insure compliance to meeting the overall scheduled construction deadlines. Once all the facility systems had been installed, Brechbill and Helman made sure our staff received the necessary maintenance training for each.

It was obvious throughout the entire project construction that you consistently had our best interests in mind and your support to our Foundation’s vision for the center was noteworthy. Without doubt, from the beginning of the project to the ribbon cutting ceremony, Brechbill and Helman proved to be both a highly proficient and fully competent general contractor and I would gladly recommend and endorse your company as the same.”

05-11-15 | Doey’s House | Hospice of Washington County | Cheryl Brown

“It gives me great pleasure to recommend Brechbill & Helman Construction Co. for the renovation and expansion project that you are embarking on. Brechbill & Helman was selected for the design/build of Doey’s House, a 12 bed-inpatient facility to be located in Washington County, Maryland, by Hospice of Washington County, Inc. Their contractor qualifications, community commitment, understanding of not-for-profit mission and vision, along with their personal attention to detail made them the perfect contractor for our very visible community project.

Brechbill & Helman have been instrumental in all aspects of our pre-construction phase. They have made themselves available for all questions, meetings and have went above and beyond to insure that all members of our team fully understand all aspects of the project every step of the way.

Their dedicated staff, in particular Gregg Thompson, Director of Marketing & Business Development, have provided Hospice of Washington County with immeasurable guidance through the process. This has served to be extremely helpful with a team that possess very little prior building experience.

I strongly encourage you to consider Brechbill & Helman for your project. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me at 301-791-6360.”

10-22-13 | Gettysburg College | 339 Carlisle Street | William Baldwin

“I am sending you a short note thanking you and your team from Brechbill & Helman Construction Company for the completion of two more successful construction projects! Several years ago when Brechbill and Helman built the Early Learning Center on campus, the entire campus community was impressed with the quality of work and dedication Brechbill and Helman showed. The old saying that some things improve with age rings very true with Brechbill & Helman – you have taken customer service to a new level. The entire campus is buzzing about the renovation project that you completed at 339 Carlisle Street. Words and phrases like: “beautiful”, “wow”, “what a difference”, and “I didn’t know it could look that good” are common when people mention 339. This is due to your team’s dedication to a quality product. And it doesn’t stop there. The West Building project, creating offices and classrooms in an old warehouse, has proven to be a tremendous success also. The space has been transformed into a state of the art learning environment that rivals any on campus.

The quality and superior level of workmanship is the part that everyone sees. The part that I want to personally thank you for is the management side of the projects. Your team has made my role in overseeing the projects a lot less stressful. It was like you guys were working as direct employees of Gettysburg College, not a contractor. Because of your leadership that attitude carried down through the sub-contractors. I must say I’m impressed with the level of self-oversight that the entire construction team showed. I didn’t have to tell anyone about substandard workmanship. If it wasn’t right the guys wouldn’t walk away from it until it was prefect.

Being a small private liberal arts college Gettysburg College is very selective when it comes to contractors that work on Campus. Brechbill & Helman Construction Company has been and will continue to be a “Preferred Contractor” and I sincerely hope that we can work together on upcoming projects.”

05-10-12 | Vigilant Hose Company No. 1 | Shippensburg EMS | John Byers

“The Vigilant Hose Company highly recommends Brechbill & Helman Construction Company, Inc. to complete your construction needs. Early into our planning meetings, Brechbill & Helman offered their services in assisting with our design. Brechbill & Helman teamed up with SGS Architects to design our new facility. We were extremely pleased in the Modified Design Build concept presented and contracted with them shortly thereafter.

During our process of design, Brechbill & Helman performed exceptionally well and Gregg Thompson is to be commended for his ability to listen to our needs and provide the staff necessary to keep things moving. His ability to organize and provide gift in kind support from the sub-contractors was admirable.

Our 6.4 million dollar Shippensburg Emergency Services Building construction project ran smoothly and on time because of their assigned site manager, Matt Dice. Matt’s expertise and ability to supervise a construction site is second to none. Our by weekly construction meetings provided up to date real time progress reports. Site safety was paramount with zero injuries and without any complaints from local residents or inspectors. Once again we highly recommend Brechbill & Helman for your construction needs.”

11-23-11 | Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter | Nancy Gardner

“The team at Brechbill and Helman has been extremely efficient, competent, and pleasant to work with. They understand the situation of a non-profit organization that is constantly challenged to raise 100% of its operating expenses, at the same time it is charged with raising millions of dollars to construct a new shelter that will serve the community for many years into the future.

They have been very helpful to us as we move slowly toward completion; many cost-saving measures have been incorporated into construction. Brechbill and Helman is committed to working with local contractors whenever possible, and this gives our community “ownership” of our project, which is an invaluable albeit intangible asset to our efforts.

We were also pleased with the many advantages of their non-profit 501 {c)(3) program. The project was designated as Pennsylvania tax free, “gift in kind”, which encouraged all sub-contractors to identify their gift during the bidding process, a savings giveback at the completion of the project and the donation of their pre-construction services. This resulted in a total savings of $244,115 to CVAS.”

07-15-10 | Homewood Suites of Hagerstown | Jeff Tedrick

“It is with great pleasure that I recommend Brechbill and Helman Construction Company, Inc as a ‘contractor of choice’ for any upcoming Hilton or Hospitality projects.

Brechbill and Helman Construction Company was selected as a prequalified bidder on our new 103 room, 90,763 square foot, 5 story Homewood Suites project because of their extensive experience in constructing ‘Hilton’ (as well as other) brand hotels. They were competitive during the bid stage, and remained aggressive and thorough in preparing a post bid shopping list of cost saving methods and materials.

The management staff (both office and on site) were knowledgeable, assertive, and always professional. Workmanship was far above the industry standard, and the ‘punch list’ was minimal. I would not hesitate to use Brechbill and Helman Construction Company on another project that fit into any area of their diverse expertise.”

11-5-09 | Cross Keys Village | Harmony Ridge | Vernon King

“This letter is written as a strong recommendation for Brechbill & Helman Construction Company.

From October 2007 through June 2009, Brechbill & Helman was a considerable presence on this campus as general contractor for our Harmony Ridge West Apartments and Harvey S. Kline Wellness Center, together a $19.34 million new building project. During this period, the company provided a consistently high level of overall quality, subcontractor supervision, customer-centered advice and ongoing commitment to schedule.

We were especially appreciative of Brechbill & Helman’s attention to our most individualized needs. For instance, because we are a residential community, and this project was taking place in the center of our campus, the company’s on-site supervisor cleaned the internal road used by construction vehicles every afternoon to minimize the impact of mud and dust on cars, bicycles and pedestrians. We also were regularly assisted with our needs for marketing the 56 apartments in the building.

Of course, what really matters is the quality of the finished product, and for a project of this size, we have experienced minimal problems subsequent to the building opening. In the past we were not always satisfied with a contractor after the work was done; this time we are.

We would gladly entertain a bid from Brechbill & Helman for a future project at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community, and we would recommend the company to any others as well.”

07-27-09 | Homewood Retirement Center | Skilled Nursing | Carla Palavecino

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for Brechbill and Helman Construction’s part in the successful completion of the Homewood at Williamsport project. The Brechbill and Helman team demonstrated its professionalism and experience during the entire construction process. The team’s willingness to create a successful partnership with our office and the owner made the completion of this large project a success for everyone involved.

Under the leadership of Harold Shipp, Project Manager and John Ridings, Superintendent, the project was well organized, well-coordinated and, most importantly, it was completed on a schedule that met the owner’s needs. Additionally, Brechbill and Helman’s Construction team worked closely with the owner’s staff, consultants and vendors to add scope to the project while still maintaining the overall project schedule, cost and high quality. It is important to point out that the project required detailed coordination of not only subcontractors, but outside vendors. The attention to detail provided by Brechbill and Helman Construction is what led the project to be successful.

Based on our success with the Homewood at Williamsport project, we look forward to future projects with Brechbill and Helman Construction. The company’s commitment to quality, budget and schedule are a valuable combination. Brechbill and Helman will continue to be highly recommended to our clients.”

03-11-08 | Hirschmann Automation and Control | David Sciamanna

“B&H’s efforts assisted the CADC in keeping the company in Pennsylvania. By working together, we were able to deliver the project on-time and under budget.

When groundbreaking occurred in April 2007 everyone was wondering how B&H was going to deliver the building by October. It was obvious after watching your high performing team in action, that we made a wise choice in selecting Brechbill & Helman. The design/build approach worked well. Your team did an incredible job of managing the project from the day you made the presentation to our selection team to completing the punch list. It was a pleasure working with everyone at B&H.

I again want to thank-you for the outstanding effort. Since relocating to the new building, Hirschmann has expanded employment and the company is extremely happy and proud of its new corporate headquarters, as are we!”

12-11-07 | Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter | Nat Atapoor

“The Department of Public Works and Environmental Services recognizes and appreciates the excellent work and dedication of Mr. Kissel as Project Manager on the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter project. Mr. Kissel provided exceptional coordination and management of the project and subcontractors to meet or exceed the project goals of quality, timeliness, and budget. We welcome the opportunity to work with you again on future projects.”

12-22-06 | Berkeley County Judicial Center | Howard Strauss

“On behalf of the entire Berkeley County Commission, we wish to thank you and your construction team for accomplishing the vision of the people of Berkeley County through our new judicial center.  From the construction bid award through the grand opening ceremony, Brechbill and Helman has been our trusted partner in transforming the Berkeley Building into the Berkeley County Judicial Center, a focal point of Martinsburg.

The realization of the new judicial center was the result of true collaboration with our architectural and construction team. As with all public facilities, funding is always a sensitive matter. Even when funding difficulties arose, Brechbill and Helman worked with the Commission to make the very most of taxpayers’ dollars. The result is an extraordinary collaboration resulting in a magnificent facility.

The Commission looks forward to continuing to work with our strong building partners Brechbill and Helman on upcoming building projects planned for Berkeley County government. Please extend our thanks and sincere appreciation to your staff and to all of your sub-contractors for a job truly well done.”

8-15-06 | Church at Severn Run | Rev. Drew Shofner

“After carefully vetting a number of excellent companies, we chose Brechbill and Helman not only on the basis of their excellent track record, but also on the basis of their willingness to work with us to achieve maximum value for the project. Brechbill and Helman made many valuable contributions during the design stage that saved the church money and contributed significantly toward our having a better product in the end.

I don’t know that there is any higher praise for a company than to say that we trusted them and that they proved worthy of that trust throughout the very involved process of transforming an unused family farm into an attractive church campus. We have been impressed with the company and would not hesitate to consider them first for future construction. We heartily commend Brechbill and Helman and would be delighted to answer any questions regarding what we consider to be an incredibly successful project.”

05-31-06 | Salem Avenue Elementary School | David Moats

“BMGM ARCHITECTS p.c. is very pleased to share information with you on the competency and professionalism of the contracting firm of Brechbill & Helman Construction, Inc. (B&H).

B&H has work for our clients in the capacity of general contractor for many years and on various projects, most recently the 12 million dollar Salem Avenue Elementary School addition and renovations. From the time we began construction in August 2003 to substantial completion this summer, B&H has showed constant dedication, excellent workmanship and a high quality of work standards. This firm responds in a very timely manner to any issue and makes changes as required so that no delays in the project occur.

This school project was particularly difficult with having five (5) phases to the construction of the additions and renovations with school in progress during the entire construction phase.

In summary, BMGM would not hesitate to recommend Brechbill & Helman Construction for any new work, additions or renovation construction projects. Should you have any questions, please feel free to call our office.”
